When you have a burst pipe the first thing you need to do is follow this burst pipes checklist:

If a pipe bursts: turn the water off at the mains immediately and drain the system by turning on all cold water taps. Its a good idea to familiarise youself with the location of the shutoff valve so that you can go straight there with no delays in the event of an emergency.

If possible keep rooms heated and allow warm air to circulate. Leave windows open so that moist air can escape.

Dry out carpets and soft furnishings but only lift fitted carpets if absolutely necessary, otherwise shrinkage may occur.

Notify your insurer – you may be entitled to compensation under your homeowners insurance.

Once our plumber has repaired your burst pipes you may need to call in a local contractor to rectify the  damages but coordinate this with your insurer to make sure you get the best prices and compensation.
