Kitchen Drains

Your kitchen drains are often all that stand between you and domestic disaster

Even the most modern of kitchens has a network of drain pipes hidden in the walls, behind the cupboards and counters and even under the floor. Normally (and especially if they are well built) your kitchen drains will function for years without complaining about all that you flush down them, but when one of your kitchen drains becomes blocked spillage can happen.

Food remnants, grease and other oils often slowly build up in your kitchen drain and kitchen drains have a tendency to hold the smell of past meals and dirty dish water long after you think they sink is clean.

Garbage disposals are a great way to clean up and cut down on trash, but they too can contribute to the build up residue that can block your drains and sometimes give your kitchen a bad smell. It’s a good idea to clean out the drain to keep it and your kitchen smelling fresh. Additionally, if you do not clean out the food, grease and oil residue, your drains can clog up, causing even more of a headache than just a smelly kitchen.

There are many home remedies for cleaning minor blockages in kitchen drains,  but if you have serious problem the best (and often the least expensive) alternative is to call a professional plumber.
